The family book
If the family has a book, it is on the site by chapter: read on your phone, resume where you stopped, find people and events.
Step by step
Open the book
The book is in «Stories», on the shelf of collections. Long chapters are split into sections, and the page numbers are as in the paper book.
Read on from your place
The site remembers where you stopped: on the home page — «Continue from p. …». A «Bookmark» and its note are seen only by you.
People and events
Names in the text lead to people's pages; at the end of a chapter — «Who is in this chapter». An event from the book has its own page: «Previous», «Next» and «Similar events».
«Read in the book»
Separate stories and answers from the book lead to their place in it with the «Read in the book» button.
Make your own book
«Make a book» creates a PDF: the book's chapters, relatives' stories, photos and events — only what you can see. Voice stories go in as transcripts.
Frequent questions
Can a mistake in the book be fixed?
The book's text is not rewritten: the original is always visible in «As in the book». The keeper fixes typos, links to people and headings; other relatives can «Suggest an edit».
Why do guests not see the whole book?
Memories of living authors are closed to guests until the authors agree, and photos with living people always are. Relatives see the whole book.
Our family has no book. Is this not for us?
It is. «Make a book» puts together a PDF from the stories, photos and events relatives told on the site.
