The lineage: shared ancestors
A lineage joins families with shared ancestors: the ancestors are viewed together, while each family's own stories and living relatives stay at home.
Step by step
Start a lineage
The keeper opens the page of an ancestor who has died and presses «Start a lineage». The family joins as a whole: all its relatives see the lineage, close ones do not.
«Call into the lineage»
«One person» — a link for 14 days and one sign-in; «A family chat» — for 90 days, joining after the lineage's keeper agrees. The site writes to nobody itself — you send the link.
The invitation without signing in
The recipient sees who is calling, the shared ancestors and old photos — without living people or stories. Then — «This is me» and who they are to the ancestor, or «I am not from this family».
Your own family — later
You can join a lineage without a family of your own: view the ancestors, «Ask the lineage» and «Add to it». Your own family with a ready line can be started from 18.
Publish to the lineage
From your own family: «Publish to the lineage» at a story or a photo. The keeper publishes a living author's story only after the author's «Allow».
Frequent questions
What do other families of the lineage see about us?
Only the shared ancestors and what you published to the lineage yourselves. Your stories and tree stay in the family, and living people who have not joined, and teenagers under 18, are shown as «Living person» — without a name.
Does everyone see an addition at once?
No. Until the lineage's keeper checks it, only you see it. If the facts differ, a second version appears instead of a replacement.
From what age can one join a lineage?
From 13; until 16 — with a parent's consent. A lineage has no guests and no showcase.
