Who is in the photo
Tag relatives and pets in photos, say where a photo was taken, and work it out together when you are not sure.
Step by step
Open a photo
Photos come with the stories: add them in «Tell». Under the photo press «Tag who is in the photo».
Put a number
Press on the photo where the person is and choose them by the first letters of the first name, surname or maiden name. On old photos numbers often already stand under the faces — press a number.
Pets too
«Who is in the photo» has two groups: «People» and «Pets». If you do not know the name, tag a dog or a cat without a name, and relatives will see the question «Whose dog is it?».
«Where it was taken»
Choose a town, a family place — a dacha, the institute where someone studied — or a memorable place: the Kremlin, a museum. If you like, put a point on the photo with a short caption: «gazebo», «veranda». The place's page gathers its photos of different people and years.
See who is tagged
«Show who is tagged» outlines the faces with a thin frame and a number, and under the photo there is a list «1 — name». All photos by decade are in «Photos of the family».
Frequent questions
We do not know who it is, or relatives disagree. What now?
That is what «Figuring it out together» is for: the keeper puts numbers under the faces, relatives answer «I know who it is» and vote «I agree», «Not sure» or «That's not him». When opinions agree, the keeper approves — the tag appears on the photo.
Does the site recognise faces by itself?
No. On a photo it only finds where a face is, without a name. «Suggest who it is» compares a face with those who have died and with those who allowed it themselves — only with your consent and not before 16.
If I tag a living person, will strangers see the photo?
No. A tag does not open the photo to anyone: it is seen by those who see the story. Guests never see a photo where a living person or a living pet is tagged.
